Here I am...again!
Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to work I go.... just to get there, and have everyone look at me with a strange face, and my boss ask, "what are you doing here?" I questioned, that wasn't this Saturday, and wasn't I on the schedule to work? Instead of that question being answered, it was then remarked as to where I had been yesterday, when I was suppose to work, and where was I Tues., when I was suppose to work? WELL...according to the schedule I had written down, I had those days off. But, if you look at the schedule they have, it says I was suppose to. It doesn't appear that the schedule has been changed, but I have a hard time believing, that I wrote down my schedule wrong, on 3 different occasions, beginning the end of Aug., and even as far back then, I have written down that I have the 27-29 of Sept. off, and back to work on 10-1. Anyway, I just don't know what happened, and did my best to explain that it was an honest mistake, and ask if they didn't think that was pretty unusual for me...a no call, no show...which they admitted it was, but then informed me, that it wasn't their job to call me and ask where I was, when I asked them why they didn't call me. Let's even forget the business end of this, and ask, after working there for almost a year, wouldn't they have at least made it a little personal, and wondered if everything was okay...concerned that this wasn't like me. But, NOOOOOOOOOO....I didn't show up....they didn't even bother to call. Needless to say, I'm not really on the HAPPY side!!!! So....I got "written up" for it, which doesn't please me at all either...considering that I know I did nothing "deliberately" wrong. It was an honest mistake. There was a place for employee comment, and you can bet that I left mine, letting them know that this was a genuine accident, and not deliberate. The tension in that place Monday when I get there, will be sooooo thick, that you won't be able to cut it with a butter knife! Monday is definately going to be a day I'm not looking forward to!!! It will be one of those days when I want to just get in, do my job, and get out. You can bet that I'm not going to say a word about what happened, and if it's brought up again, which it won't surprise me if it is, then I will repeat myself, that it was an honest mistake, and that I don't know what else can be said about it. Plain, and simple!
Lee has been buggin' me for sometime to look for a different job...one that pays a little better, or has more hours available. I have thought about it, but just hate going out and looking for another job, especially when I have one, and then there is part of me...the "loyalty to the job" part, that I always hate to have to quit...even if it's for a better job. Why I should be concerned about loyalty to this job, I have no idea....they sure haven't show me much concern.
Well, I have had a couple of places in mind, that I always thought I'd check, if something happened that the cleaners fell through. There use to be a florist above Tucker's, that has just recently moved down the street, to a new location. Lee knows the owner well, and they get along good...Lee buying flowers for me, from him on occasion. I had often thought about talking to him, with my foot in the door, so to speak, with him already knowing Lee, and we have also met on a couple of occasions. Plus, he is also a customer at the cleaners, so I have had contact with him there also.
I began to strike up a repour with a lady that came into the cleaners, and found out later, that she was the owner to one of the exclusive shops downtown. I also found out, at a later date, from Lee, that he works on her jewelry. So, the next time I talked to her, I told her who I was, and that Lee had talked about her beautiful jewelry, and what a sweet lady she was. Well, she was another that I thought I might go see, if something happened at the cleaners.
Well, needless to say, today was just the type of day that made me decide to go talk to these people, like I've been thinking about. I guess there was a small part of me that thought there might be a possibility, that one of these people would hire me, right off the bat, and I could just get on the phone, call Rex, and tell him I won't be back! Well, naturally, that was real wishful thinking. lol Both people that I needed to talk to were gone, and won't be back till next week, so that means that I unfortunately, have to show up for work at the cleaners on Monday. I didn't get an application from the clothing store, but I did ask about openings at the flourist, and also spoke to one of the guys there, telling him who I was, and he also knows Lee...so he offered an application, and I took it. I don't know that I'll go back to the clothing store...not right now, anyway. I really think I'd prefer the flourist, and it's also closer to Tucker's than the clothing store, so I think I will go ahead and fill out the application, and wait and talk to Kent when he returns next week. He is suppose to be back on Wed. I work at the cleaners on Wed. but have Thurs. off, so make take the time to try and go see him then. What days I'm scheduled at the cleaners after next Thurs., I don't know. I didn't stick around long enough to look...only that I had to be there on Monday. I'll be there Monday, and Wednesday, for sure, and past that who knows...it may all depend on what Kent tells me on Thursday, if I have a chance to speak with him. Maybe this was just the little boost that I needed to get out and have an excuse to look for a different job. Just say a little prayer, that if a new job at the flourist, is what's suppose to happen, that it will happen quickly, and definately without incident, at the cleaners. I definately think that working in a flourist shop would be much more fun and definately more enjoyable than a drycleaners.
Well, had to come home and spout about what happened today at work. First the dent in the car, then locking my keys in the car, and now this stupid thing at work. Although, one good thing has come from this day so far....I FOUND LEE'S KEYS!!! Little did I know, that when I locked my keys in the car, I had also locked his in there. They had fallen down between the crack of the front seat, underneath the center arm rest, so we couldn't see them. I didn't see them till I lifted the arm rest today, and WHAT A SURPRISE! Oh, and another good thing, despite todays happenings... it is STILL a beatiful Saturday!
Much love,
Lev
