Ready for this evening

Boy, was I ever ready to get back home and home to stay, as I was today. I guess it was just a typical Monday. My caddy has a breakline that leaking, so we're down to one car, which is lovely, (that was sarcastic), but even lovlier with this weather we have now. So...Lee and I had already discussed that I was going to have to take him to work, so that I'd have a way to work. I even called Aaron last night to make sure he was back in town, and not dealing with being snowed in someplace. I wanted to see if I could go ahead and come to work as soon as I dropped Lee off, which would be a little after 9. That's a bit earlier than we usually start. He said that would be fine, so I mentioned to Lee what I was going to do, once I got off the phone with him. I got up around 8...poured my coffee, and came up to check my email. Moriah didn't go to school today, they were running snow routes on the busses, and just moving here, we didn't know where the bus routes ran. She wasn't feeling very good anyway, she was sick last night, so hadn't planned on going anyway. While checking my email, Moriah comes stumbling out of her room, and in the room here, where I am...we talked a bit...asked her how she was feeling, general chit chat. Then she asked me if "dad" was going to work...I answered, yeah, that I was going to take him in just a bit, to which she informs me that he just pulled out of the driveway and drove off!!! HE WHAT!!! How am I suppose to get to work???? I ran downstairs...flung the door open, and ran outside in my nightshirt....which it was VERY VERY COLD...no Lee to be seen. So, i ran right in, grabbed my cell, and called, hoping I could catch him on the next street over. Next thing I know, I hear Lee's cell....ringing on the kitchen counter. So much for calling him!! So...I had to get on the phone, and call Aaron, and let him know what had happened, then I had to wait awhile, till Lee got to work, so I could call him. When I finally got ahold of him, I double checked to see if my caddy was driveable at all...to which he immediately said no...which I didn't really think it was safe either. So...Lee just said he would come back and get me. He got back here, had another cup of coffee, and I got him to work around 10. So, at least his day was a bit shorter.

My day was totally crazy...as usual. I didn't work on Friday, and I'm not sure if Aaron did any shipping, but today, was a mad house...about 75 books shipped today. I had them all boxed, and on the porch...and even though it was almost 3, we didn't think the mailman had been by, plus, the roads are so awful, we were sure he had been detained. But...about the time I think I'm going to get to leave, a few more books straggle in, that have to be packaged. Next thing I know, he is asking me to load all these packages in my car...he's afraid that we missed the mail man. He knew I didn't want to drag all those packages to the postoffice, and he even mentioned it. I really didn't think the mail man had been there yet. But, I hauled them all to my car...all but one big box, which was so full I couldn't lift it, and had to have Aaron carry it to the car. Then, once I drove away, it dawned on me how I was going to get a box that big into the postoffice by myself, since I couldn't lift it. I wasn't a happy camper...at all. As I was coming around the corner...a couple of blocks ahead of me, I happen to see our postman. I didn't know if he had been by yet or not, which I found out after catching up with him, that he had. So, at least I caught him, and didn't have to haul it all to the postoffice...just a few steps from my car to his truck. I still had to go to the postoffice with two international pkg. anything that is international, and weighs over 1 lb., has to be taken to the p.o. and personally "handled" my a postal employee. They have to hold it, and ask me if there is anything fragile, parashable, liquid, hazzardous, etc. They all know what we ship up there, but they have to ask the question. Naturally, it didn't use to be that bad before 9-11. anyway, so I have to go to the p.o. with 2 pkgs. When I walked in...I'm facing a line of about 7-8...and several more had gathered, immediately behind me. I knew I was in for a wait. I stood in line about 15 mins. From there, I had to run to the store...$ General, to Micky D's, to grab Moriah something to eat. I finally got home about 6. For the most part, the roads are clear, but there are still big icy spots, that make the going very slow, to avoid knocking the bottom out of your car, so traffic seems to be just creaping. Lanes aren't their full normal size, and in someplaces, snow still covers the center lines, so you can't tell where the lanes even are. What I did after work should have taken me about 1/2-45 mins., before I was home. Instead...it took me almost 2. By the time I got home, it was dark, the temp. was dropping and it was getting colder. My fingers were numb, even with my gloves on, my nose froze, and my toes...well, I just couldn't feel them. I was never so glad to get inside in the warm, and into my slippers to get the feet warmed up. Of course...with me having the car, I was not able to stay in this nice warm house, like I wanted, and had to leave a little before 7...get back out in the cold, and go pick up Lee at work. We finally got back home, into some heat, a little before 8, and BOY, was I ever glad to know I was home for good, for the evening! Remember...we're driving a car right now with no heat...so that's why I'm freezing my butt off, driving around. If I had some heat in the car, I'd at least be warm while I was driving.

As cold as I was when I got home, I had decided that I was going to reheat the turkey noodle soup, that I made the other night, for supper. I put it on the stove when we got home, and only had to reheat it. It tasted really good, and helped us warm up from outside in this bitter cold. Right now, about 10pm, it's 26...but the wind chill makes if feel 18. Our low tonight is suppose to be 17...so wonder what the windchill will be then? I'm glad I'll be tucked away... warm in my bed by then!

Well, I've written an epic here, as usual....yackin' your legs off. I hope that you all had a wonderful day...wherever you're at. Hope you have a tomorrow just as wonderful!

Much love,
Lev
