Wow...glad today is Wed.
Well, by the time I headed for bed last night, around 1 or a little after, the snow was coming down as though we were going to have a blizzard...flakes as big as quarters, some of them. They say we're only suppose to get about an inch, before the snow stops tapering off, around noon. The way it looked last night, I was afraid that if it continued to snow like that all night, we'd definately wake up with more than an inch, but, I'm going to say that is about all we do have. The snow is very light and powdery though, and is sticking to every limb, leaf, bush, tree, rooftop, phone lines...you name it, it is covered with snow, and looks beautiful. There is absolutely NOTHING on the roads, which is the way I like it.
Well, work was so so yesterday. Applications came in yesterday like crazy, and I know Rex has a couple of people that are suppose to come into today for interviews. I did talk to him for just a bit yesterday, and simply ask if he knew what would be going on with the schedule, and was I going to loose my Tuesdays, to which he replied, that he didn't know....he wouldn't know anything until he got someone hired...that he had to have some help in the mornings. Well, I knew that, but he's hiring for afternoon shift too. Anyway, I told him that I COULD NOT afford to loose another day on my paycheck, and then left it at that. So, I guess we'll see what happens in the next couple of days. I don't think mary changed all those Tues. on the upcoming schedules...she had them out, but from what I could see, didn't change my Tuesdays. I'll have to try and look closer at them today. So, as far as that goes, I guess I'm just hangin' for a couple of days.
We did freak out a bit yesterday over some horrible news that we heard. Landon works with two brothers at the Mc Donald's, there in Ashland....Shawn, and Chris. Apparently, Chris, just 17, and a sr. at Ashland highschool, was found yesterday morning, dead in his bed. From what Landon had heard, his dad tried to wake him Monday evening, and couldn't, and I guess just figured he was "really sound asleep", and so left him alone. Then, yesterday morning apparently went in to wake him up, and was still not able to arouse him. He was dead. We haven't heard a thing on the news, or in the paper, as to what might have happend. From what I've heard, Chris did smoke some pot, but Landon hadn't heard anything about him being into any other stronger drugs. We have no idea if this was an overdose, or what. Landon did say that about 3-4 days ago, evidently Chris got into a fight with some other kid, and was punched in the nose/face enough to blacken both eyes...we are wondering now, if there is a possibility that there was some sort of damage to the brain, that caused him to just lay down, go to sleep, and never wake up. Needless to say, Landon is quite upset, considering that Chris only lives about 4 trailers down from Landon, in the same park, and they did work together. Landon didn't hang out or run around with him on a regular basis, but did know him, and is understandably quite upset.
He is really relating to Shawn, and has been putting himself in Shawn's place...not being able to understand how Shawn is even beginning to cope with such news. He is reminded how he would feel, if he had heard the news that his brother, Kirk was found like that. It has hit Landon rather hard, and he is a very sensative young man. It doesn't take much for him to cry, and show his feelings. This has obviously upset him a great deal. I guess yesterday morning at Mc Donald's wasn't a pleasant one, and quite understandable, when Landon described what had happened, when the phone rang, and Chris's dad had called to tell Shawn, that they had found his brother dead. Landon said Shawn started screaming, and soon he and the manager were out the back door. Naturally, everyone at Mc Donald's is a tad bit shaken....I can't say that I blame them, and it is so sad to think about this young life that is now destroyed. I just pray, although no verdict of death is good, that this young man did not die because of some silly fight between him and another school age kid....then he will be looking at involuntary manslaughter, or 2nd degree murder charges...especially if it was his blow to Chris's head that caused enough damage to his brain to kill him. Then it wouldn't be just one life destoryed, but two. We just don't know what is going on yet, and haven't heard anything. Landon did have to work this morning, so I'm going to try and call him later, and see if he has heard any new news from anyone at work. It is just a very sad and tragic happening. I am also going to try and keep up with the news, and also the paper, to see what might show up. We do know that they are doing an autopsy, so it may be awhile before we really know what happened. Just remember to keep this family...father, Shawn, in your prayers, and thoughts, as well as Landon, and the other kids that Chris worked with at Mc Donald's. It is a RUDE awakening, especailly when someone this young, with his entire life ahead of him, is cut so short due to such a tragedy. It is sad indeed!
We'll be making some plans for supper out at Landon's tonight, when I give him a call later this afternoon. I told him I was going through "baby/Mary withdrawal"....lol Lee got to see her yesterday...that's no fair, so we're going to definately have to get out there tonight so I can see her. I'll come home as soon as I get off work, and pick up Moriah, then we'll head to get Lee and then on out to Landon's.
I am so ready for tomorrow off. I don't really know what I have planned. I'm not sure if Landon is working tomorrow or not, or if he has anything to do. I did forget that I have to go get Amanda later tomorrow afternoon...Mary has a drs. appt., so, I know I'll at least be doing that. What else is in store for tomorrow...????....who knows.
Well, I guess I'll head outta here. I'm trying to get some laundry done before I head for work. I'll be back later on this evening, for sure. Landon has had my camera for a couple of days...since monday, so I'm sure he probably has several new pictures of Mary that I'll be able to share with you.
I hope you all have a great day! Stay warm....or cool...depending on what weather is like where you are. As far as Missouri...I SURE wish it were warmer, and a whole lot less "white" than what we have right now. At least it isn't stuck to the roads. I'll talk to you all later....take care!
Much love,
Lev
