Mary Adele Morgan: February 3, 2006
It has been a veeeeeery long day, and it is veeeeeeeery veeeeeery late...about 2:35 am...the 4th, actually. We finally got home from the hospital about 1:30, or just a little after.
Mary Adele Morgan finally arrived at 10:03 p.m., and weighed 8 lbs. 12 ozs....1 ounce more than her Uncle Kirk, when he was born. Dr. Swindel had already told us that she would be a bigger baby than Kenny or Gabriel, either one. But, we weren't quite expecting this. lol But, however, she does not have her cousin, Eva beat...if you remember, Eva weighed 9 lbs. and 8 oz. But, Mary, is a beautiful baby girl, with dark wavy hair, and dark blue eyes. She look just like her daddy did, and her brother Gabriel, when he was born. I've included a picture of Gabriel, and only a few minutes old. We could already tell by comparing the profiles in the ultra sounds, that they were going to look alike.
We arrived at the hospital a little behind schedule...about 7:45. Bless her heart, Kristine, Amanda's mom, was standing outside in the cold, and said she had been there since 7. I never thought to ask her, but SURELY, she wasn't standing outside all that time...she could have just come into the lobby and waited. I hoping that she had just stepped outside not long before we arrived.
I dropped Landon, and Amanda off at the hospital, then came back home, and waited for time to take Lee to work. Moriah, and Gabriel were still asleep when we left about 8:30, but Kenny was up and dressed, and watching a movie. I took Lee to work, and Moriah stayed here with the boys. After dropping Lee off, I went right to the hospital, to see what the status was....well, not right to the hospital...i ran through Mc Donald's, and got Landon and I some breakfast, and got 3 breakfast burritos for Moriah, and the boys. I figured I'd take it to them later, and they could zap it in the microwave. Things seemed to progress rather slowly, during the morning hours...waiting for one thing or another. But the contractions weren't too bad.
I ran back home...I think it was about noon. We reheated the burritos in the microwave, and then I called my mom and dad to let them know that we were in the hosp., and something would be happening sometime today...but...with babies...who knew what time. lol Lee had talked to him mom, so she knew what was going on too.
Moriah had to call at least 4 times...wanting to know when I was going to come get her. She was upset that I ran home for awhile at noon, and didn't take them back with me...but I knew progress hadn't been going real fast, and we knew it would be a task to try and coral Kenny and Gabriel at the hospital for very long. So, I put off going to get her and the boys for as long as I could. Gabriel did get away from ALL of us...TWICE, and one time was brought back by some grumpy nurse, who told us he needed to have an adult with him. ole bitty! lol like we were just letting him run amuck of our own choice. Anyway...I knew they were going to have to be a last minute thing. I decided about 4:30 to go ahead and get Moriah and the boys...things were moving a little faster. I knew that by the time I got them, and got back that it would be close to 5:30...then I had to pick up Lee at 7:00, so I figured that SURELY...between me, Landon, Moriah, and Kristine, we could keep an eye on them for 1 1 /2 hr. When we got there, the kids were excited to see their Nannie Kristine, and she took them to the soda machine, for a treat...and they spent some time together. I left about 6:45 to go pick up Lee. We were only about 3 mins. from the hosp., when my cell rang, and it was Landon, saying that we might want to hurry...they were getting ready to give her the epidural, and then break her water...they were expecting it to go fairly quickly then. Lee and I arrived just a couple of mins later. By then, they were preparing to give her the epidural. While they did that...Moriah, Lee, Kristine, the boys and I, sat in the waiting room and talked, while the boys played. I took Gabriel, and we went for a walk down to the nursery, where he got to see the babies. I was pointing them out to him, and he asked me... "Is that E"b"a" ...Eva...was the only baby he's ever really been around... I laughed, and said No...honey..that's not Eva. Then he looked at me real puzzled, and ask..."Is that Mary"...and I had to laugh again, and say, No...Mary is still in Mommies tummy. But, he was so excited when he knew we were coming to the hospital, and he was going to get to see his new baby sister...I guess that seemed the logical place to him. lol
Lee, Landon and I went outside around 9 I guess...something like that. You had to go outside to get to the cafeteria...they had the halls closed down for some repairs...anyway, Amanda was resting, and Landon had told her he be outside, and if anything happened to just call the cell...we'd be right up. Well, we had all eaten, except Lee...and amanda, of course, who was STARVING, cause she hadn't had a thing all day but juice, broth, and a sprite. So...we decided to just jump in the car...run to Mc Donald's, so lee could get something to eat, and then ran back to the hospital. Mc. Donald's isn't but about two miles away...if that. We sat in the car and talked while lee ate. Kirk called while we were out, and got to talk to his brother...which was great. I know how much Landon would have LOVED for him to be here...I know how much Kirk wishes he were. It always
shows up caller id unavailable, when Kirk calls me from Australia. Not long after kirk and landon got done talking...the phone rang again... caller id uvailable...landon thought it was kirk calling back. But, when I saw that...by first thought was Amanda. I was right...she called to tell him that she was dialated to 6, and to come on...things were gonna be rocking. Landon ran on in....Lee and i followed just a couple of minutes later. Lee and I took over watching the boys and Moriah headed to the room to see what was going on. We got a movie put in for the boys...and they were playing a game. I told Lee I was gonna run in and see what the latest was. Low and behold, when I opened the door...I was blocked by a big tray coming through the door...with Dr. Swindle pulling it...it looked at me and grinned, and said..."we're ready". They sat up all their equipment...did all the stuff they have to do...and before you know it...they were telling Amanda to push...while Landon counted to 10. I wish I would have thought to look at the clock...to see when she actually started pusing..but I don't think it was more than 20 mins....maybe...and before we could hardly blink, Mary was right before our eyes...and she was beautiful.
Mary is a name that Amanda has always liked, and Landon too. She was given the middle name Adele, after her great grandmother. So... Mary Adele Morgan, entered this world on February 3, 2006 at 10:03 p.m.
The joy that this day has brought, has been unmeasurable. But, all of us today we so touched and moved, when we saw a families joy of birth, turn into desperate sadness. Unfortunately, I do not know details, other than a young couple who had been there since last night...working so hard to have their baby, to find out when it was born, that something was wrong. We do not know what, or did not hear what had happened...but Kristine witness then calling together grandparents, and loved one to tell them the news. What ever it was, it was not good from the looks on family members faces, from the way Kristine talked. I don't know what happened, but God does, and i want you all to remember this family. The joy that I felt today, watching this beautiful grandaughter of mine be born, is nothing, compared to the heartache and burden that this family is carring tonight. Please keep them in your prayers, that God be with them...guard and guide them, and shelter them in His wings, and bring them peace. My heart breaks when I think of the sorry they have to be feeling.....I think of Mary, and I thank God that she is alive, and healthy.
Babies are truely a miracle from God!
Much love,
Lev
naturally, we are going back tomorrow...you can bet I'll have more pictures!
Uncle Doc...would you care to print off a couple of these that are good, so you can show mom and dad? Thanks...I'd appreciate it. We called them about 11:00 last night, to let them know Mary had arrived. Mom didn't say, but I was assuming they were in bed...but I knew she wouldn't mind, with news like this.
