Awwww...I hate Monday's

Well, after the beautiful and joyful weekend I had, with the birth of my new grandaughter, Mary, I should have known that having to go back to work today was going to be NO fun! And it had to be one of those typical Monday's....didn't it?

It was non-stop all day long. I got there at 1...left about 6:15, and didn't set down all day...nor did I ever at anytime, not have clothes to tag....till it was time to go. We have had one guy quit, which has left us shorthanded...especially in the mornings. I'm not sure what actually happened today, but apparently Mary...the older one that I work with in the afternoon, came in at 10...rather than 1. I'm not sure if the other Mary didn't come in at all or had to leave for her other job, or maybe just wasn't scheduled today...I really don't know. But...whatever the reason, Mary spent most of her day in the back, bagging shirts, and I got absolutely NO help at all up front. Ocassionally, Rex would come and wait on someone, but it seemed like she hardly ever came up to help. Then, when she finally did come up front...well...she was still just leaving most of the stuff to me. I had piles that I had never caught up on, and she'd have 2 or 3 pieces of clothing in front of her, and someone would walk in....she'd just stand there, and I'd stand and wait to see if she would go wait on them...till I got to the point where I wouldn't let the customer stand, and go wait on them myself. Now, this wouldn't bother me so much, other than the fact that NORMALLY....I get my butt chewed by her, if "i" don't drop EVERYTHING the minute a customer walks in, and go wait on them....yet SHE can just let them stand.

Then, she ticked me off again. She was waiting on a customer...believe it or not...lol, and the phone rang...so I answered it. While I was on the phone, two more customers walked in. The gentlemen on the phone had taken a pair of pants to one of our others stores, which is only a drop off, but when he went to get them, they weren't there. He was told by someone at the store, to check with our store, to see if they somehow got sent to us, rather than the Paris Rd. store. So, I told the gentlemen that I would check to see what I could find. I laid the phone down, and preceeded to ask Mary if Rex had said anything to her, or if she knew anything about a mans pair of pants, that we had from Paris Rd. She immediately told me (mind you...this is in front of customers)t hat I needed to tell the man on the phone, that we were busy and didn't have time to look for his pants. Yeah...that was my reaction. She kept on harping about how we didn't have anything to do with the paris rd. store, regardless of the fact that I kept trying to tell her that a MANAGER had told him to call us. She kept insisting that I tell him I didn't have time, to which I finally replied.... "No, I won't tell him that....you tell him." I couldn't believe it.....she STOPPED waiting on the person she was helping...went to the phone, and told this man....in front of other customers, that we were busy and DIDN'T HAVE TIME! NOW....I'm sorry....but if I were one of those customers that were in the store tonight....and heard an employee talk to another customer like that...telling them that we DIDN'T HAVE TIME....as a customer I would wonder if at some point in time...they wouldn't have time for me either....I don't know that I'd want to do business with anyone like that. Needless to say, I was REALLY ticked! And then naturally, once everyone had left, she had to preceed to tell me about what I needed to do the next time someone called about something like that. Now, granted, we usually NEVER have anything from the paris rd. store...it is almost always at our store on Nifong....but, this man WAS a Concord Cleaners customer....whether he dropped his clothes off at Paris Rd., Nifong, or our store...and he deserves as much curteousy, and help, as the person who walks through our front door. SOMEONE needs to inform this lady that there are just certain things that are NOT TO BE SAID...in front of customers,,,,and one of those is telling another customer that YOU DON'T HAVE TIME TO TAKE CARE OF THEM!!!!! Boy....can you tell that ticked me off.

Sunday night, Jacob calls me...the other guy that fills in on my days off. Do you remember a couple of weeks back, telling you that I had gotten an extra day added at work...which has really helped us, with my paychecks being a bit bigger. Anyway, Jacobs informs me, that they have given him back his Tuesdays(the day they had given me), but that he needed this Tuesday off, and wanted to know if I'd cover the Tues. shift. Well, I immediately informed him, that I would have been there anyway, that I thought I was suppose to work on Tuesday....and NO ONE told me any different, as of Wed. when I'd left there....I was still on for Tuesday. Anyway, when I got to work today, I check the schedules...(they are made out several weeks in advance) and all the upcoming Tuesdays over the next 8+ weeks, show me down for Tuesday. So, I just figured that for some reason, they had just given Jacob this one particular Tuesday. So, I told Rex that Jacob had called me, and I told him that I would be in on Tuesday to cover Jacobs shift. I also mentioned to Rex that Jacob had told me they had given his Tuesdays back to him, but I told Rex that isn't what the schedules said....they still had me on for Tuesday. Rex made some remark about how he didn't know WHAT Jacob wanted...if he even wanted to work...first he wants more days, then he wants less. Well, we had an add come out in the paper for the opening we have for an assistant manager. As we were getting ready to leave, Mary mentions to me, "I guess you noticed that you don't work tomorrow".....I immediately replied..... (in just a bit of a "snippy tone of voice...I was so ticked at her)Yes, Ido...I'm covering Jacobs shift." I then said something to Mary about Jacob saying he had Tuesdays back, but mentioned to her about none of the other schedules saying that...to which she replied, that it was just because SHE hadn't changed them yet. Then she informs me that Rex is also going to hire another person to work in the afternoons, and that both Jacob, AND my hours will be cut. Well....after the day I had had with her, I quickly informed her, that I felt since I'd been there over a year, I didn't feel my hours should be cut, and that I would talk to Rex, to which she replied, "Well, there gonna be cut, you can count on that!" I walked towards the car and remarked...."Then he may have to find him someone else to take my place." I got in the car and left!

So...it looks like Rex and I are going to have to have a talk tomorrow, and I'm gonna have to try and get a few things off my chest...hopefully, without ticking him off....AND if I don't get the answers I want tomorrow....my day off on Thurs. will be spent visitng a couple of places where I have applications in. Anyway...it has been a typical Monday, and this day has just set me off on a high horse...which I'm sure you can tell. It just set me in that mood that by the time I got home from work, I was so upset, that it wouldn't have taken much for me to just sit down and cry. And still might not, before the night's over...who knows.

So, other than a crappy day at work.... Yesterday was a pretty crazy day. Of course, none of us really had to get up, and we definately made a rather lazy morning of it. I guess it was around noon, that I took Lee, Kenny and Gabriel, on out to Ashland, to Landon and Amanda's. Moriah had spent the night with a friend, so she wasn't here. I left Lee and the boys there, and Lee did a bit of picking up on the house, while I headed back to the hospital to pick up Landon, Amanda, and Mary. We got us all loaded in the car....ready to head for home, when we realized that the car seat that someone had given Landon and Amanda, didn't latch. We had it buckled into the seatbelt, but the little shoulder belt that comes down over babies shoulders, would latch. So...we left the hospital...just praying that we would be safe...no wrecks, till we got back to our house, where I had an extra infant seat. I had the one that they had used when Gabriel was a baby, plus I had Eva's that Kirk and Tara-Lee left, when they went to Australia. So...we came back to our house, changed car seats, then headed back into town to fill some prescriptions for Amanda. It usually takes them at least an hour or more, to fill prescriptions, but last night they told us it would only be about 30 mins. That definately wasn't enough time to go back to Ashland, then of course, we would have had to come back into town to pick them up...so while we were waiting, we decided to go ahead and go to the grocery store...and picked up some frozen pizzas, and the makings for tossed salad...so we wouldn't have to cook. By the time we got back to the pharmacy, her prescriptions were ready, and from there we headed on to Ashland. I guess it was about 5 when we got there. We got our pizzas made, and then watched the new "Legend of Zorro"....MAN....Antonio Banderas is SUCK A HUNK!!!!! Of course, we heard our fair share of comments from Landon and Lee about how good looking Katherine Zetta Jones is...lol But, like Lee says...."I may be married...but I'm not blind, or dead yet!" lol

Well, I guess I'll head outta here. Sorry that I just came in and started spoutin' off about my horrid day at work...and all the other poo poo that's goin' on there. But, that's one thing I like about this blog thing....I can just come in and spill my guts, if I feel like it. It helps to get it off my chest. I'm sure there will be plenty who could care less about my crappy day at work...lol....oh well, guess they'll be the ones that don't read it. But, I was still able to getting it off my mind...even if it isn't read by others. Who knows...maybe someone had just as miserable a Monday at work as I did. I really hope not, though....hopefully, you're was much much better.

I'll be sure and let you all know what the boss man has to say tomorrow...about all this mess. Who knows...he may say exactly what I don't want to here....guess I'll find that out tomorrow.

I hope you all had a Marvelous Monday.....And now that it's almost over, we can all look forward to a better day tomorrow on Tues....for those of us whose Monday's didn't go so well.

Take care, and I'll ttyl

Much love,
Lev
