Headed into the weekend
Well, here it is Friday, headed into the weekend, and I'm going to be stuck working for the next 2 days. So much for the weekend...lol Lee has tomorrow, Sunday, and Monday off, for the Labor Day holiday, and naturally, I'm stuck working on Sat., when he has it off. I do have Sunday, and Monday off, so that will be nice.
I suppose, it is crazy, and probably pretty selfish for me to be complining about having to go to work, when there is so much heartache, and pain being suffered in our southern states. How many of those poor people probably long for the idea of being able to go to work, and carry on their lives as they normally would....but now their world has been turned upside down. My heart just breaks as I watch the news and see the destruction, and loss of lives that has occured. You find yourself just sitting and wondering what in the world you would do, were your life touched by such tragedy in that way. The scenes you see look like something from a war zone....nothing at all like the beautiful cities, and quiet small towns that these places once were. It breaks my heart to see those who lost their lives....laying along the highways, or floating in the waters, knowing that somewhere, someone is wondering what has become of their loved ones...not realizing that the worst has happend. One poor man I saw on the news had 3 children, and he didn't know where any of them were. How in the world do you live with such a nightmare? I also read on Yahoo news, that the rock and roll singer, Fats Domino, was rescued from his home in New Orleans. He told friends that he was going to weather out the storm at home.
Lee and I both crawled into bed last night, saying a prayer, and thanking God, that we, and the rest of our family, had a bed to sleep in and a pillow to lay our heads on, when there are so many suffering, who now have nothing...literally, NOTHING. Again, it reminds me that we have so much to be thankful for, which we very often take for granted, until, by some catastrophe, it is taken from us. Only then can we realize how fast our so called "normal" lives, can change, or be destroyed, in the blink of an eye. Watching these scenes on TV, leaves me almost speechless....all I can do is shake my head in disbelief, and say, Oh, my God. My prayers are with everyone whose lives have been struck by this tragedy. I know that all of America, is praying for them also. There, but by the grace of God, go I.
Other than going to work, I don't guess I have much else planned for today...or tomorrow. We're not headed anywhere for the Labor Day weekend....guess it's a good thing, since gas here in Columbia is $2.99 gal. This is TOTALLY crazy. I know on the news that I saw where there were places in Mississippi, that it was $5.87 gal. THIS IS WRONG!!!!! And also heard today on the news, that there are places where ice is selling for $10.00 a bag! I just don't know what people are thinking when they do this kind of stuff!!!! Do these people not have enough to deal with already? Most of them with no money, and they're suppose to be able to pay $10 bucks a bag for ice? I just don't understand how people can do that to those who are already suffering to the extent they are. I don't know how they get up in the mornings and look at their faces in the mirror, or live with themselves, doing this type of thing to another human being. They should be GIVING IT AWAY!!!!
Well, guess I'll head outta here. I'm sure I'll be back later. Hope you all have a great day, and don't forget to pray for all those whose lives have been destroyed by Katrina.
Much love,
Lev
