So...promised you a second Florida story!
This took place about 1986-7? Landon was 5, Kirk 9, and it was going to be our first trip to Florida to visit Lee parents, since they'd moved there from St. Louis. We flew down, and the boys were excited, cause it was their first plane ride.
We made plans one day, to take the boat out and do some fishing. Everyone's a fishermen...well, me kinda....I've done it. We all went, except for Lee's mom. So, we had Jack, Lee's dad, Scott, Lee's brother, Kirk, Landon, Lee....and ....ME! 5 guys....1 gal! Jack takes up about 15 miles out into the gulf of Mexico. That's the farthest I've ever been out in a boat....where there was nothing at all around you, but water! No land in sight, what-so-ever! We left fairly early in the morning, as to make a day of it. Well, after spending, How many hours..?...on a boat...on a hot day, in Florida, drinking all day to try and quench your thirst...while the sun beats down on you....guess what...sooner or later...you're gonna have to take a pee! And again....for you guys, it would have been sooooooooo simple!
Well, when I began to discover that this need was getting ready to occur, I started thinking to myself, about how I was gonna do this! I'm looking around at a boat, with 5 guys on it....granted...I wasn't so much worried about Lee and our kids...as I was my fil, and bil. lol I'm looking around to see if there is a pan, or can, something that I could descretely go to the opposite end of the boat...etc. But, there is nothing! Now, mind you, this would be no problem for me, had this been a lake...pond, river....but this was the ocean...the Gulf of Mexico, and remember, we took this little voyage to do some fishing, and fishing is what we had done. Lee's brother, Scott, had been catching sharks.....all .....day......long! Now...I was not about to just jump off the boat...which is what I would have done, had I been at the lake or river. Not, when we had been catching sharks all day. Granted, it they were small...but, no....Lev was NOT gonna do that! So, now I had to come up with something! The boat had a railing around it...a series of three round railings...like a fence. So....I can't just to squat off the side, either! Well....you are probably starting to get the picture! I inform all the men of what I was gonna have to TRY and do...so they all politely faced in the opposite direction...lol I had to lean as far forward as I could...stick my butt out as far as it would go, and had to try and squeeze myself between the lowest two railings! It is SURE a good thing I'm not very big...or I would have REALLY been in trouble!!! I have always wondered .... what kind of picture that would have made, from another boat's point of view. I'm sure glad that we couldn't see any boats that day, either!
Now...here just proves the point.... my two boys....thought this was sooooooo hylarious...that Mom peed in the Gulf of Mexico...of course...they had to do it....and of course....they had to rub it in, about how much EASIER it was for them, than me! This , like the peeing in the rain storm, is one I will NEVER live down!
Love,
Lev
