O, what a day!
So, how has everyone been doing since I was here last? I sure hope that your last couple of days have gone better than they have for us here in the Morgan clan.
Yesterday just did NOT start out good at all!!!! I dropped Lee of at work a little before 9, and then headed out to Landon's, where I was suppose to get Amanda, drop her off at the dr. for her glucose test, come home, do a few things at the house while she was at the dr., go pick her up when she was done, and then was going to see if they wanted to come on over here and hang out at our house, and do our pizzas for supper, as we had originally planned. Well, needless to say that things did not go according to plan.
It was terribly cold yesterday morning, and we'd had snow the night before. I was about 4 miles from Ashland when I came up over a hill, to see a car parked along the side of the road, several 100 yds. in front of me. My first reaction was..."oh no, some poor soul has had car trouble in this horribly cold weather." I was not prepared at all, when going a little farther, to realize that I was looking at Landon's car, and it was completely destroyed, from the left rear bumper...all the way down the drives side...the door ripped wide open. My hand flew to my mouth, and I began to pray..."dear God, no!" I had no idea what had happened, who was driving the car, when it happened, WHAT happened? I was so scared I didn't know if I could drive...my leg quivering everytime I tried to apply my foot to the gas. I'm shaking now, as I'm typing, even thinking about it. I prayed all the way to Ashland that everyone was okay...that it wasn't Landon's car I'd see...just one like it. I prayed that everyone was okay, and no one hurt. That was the longest 4 miles I ever drove. When I finally arrived at Landon's, he was outside playing in the snow with Kenny, and Gabriel, and I pulled up next to him...noticing that his car was NOT is his driveway, and hurridly rolled down my window, and in near tears, said...."please don't tell me that is your car sitting on the highway?".... and he very calmly said "yeah"...it died on Amanda last night, and I need for you to take me to go jump it". I could tell my the response out of him, that he had NO IDEA WHAT WAS WRONG WITH HIS CAR!!!! I told him then, that the doors were smashed in and that someone had "creamed" it. He couldn't believe it either, and we both just prayed all the way back to the car, that I had just looked at it wrong or something....although, I knew that what I had seen was unmistakable! When we finally arrived back at the car, naturally, it made Landon almost sick to his stomach when he saw it. I dropped him off, then went up to turn around and pull up in front of the car so we could jump it. By the time I had done that, a highway patrol had pulled up behind Landon's car. Now, you have to understand....Landon has no license right now...there is no isurance on his car, and the license plates are expired. It should NOT even be on the road. Well, to make a long story short...it was the patrolman who seems to think that someone has hit Landon's car with a plow. Now, whether it was a state truck...or an idividual, who knows....but so far NO ONE has owned up to it, and I doubt that they will. So...thank's to this individual....WHO EVER THEY ARE...my son's car is TOTALED!! This is just about more than they need. They are already struggling financially, something awful...a new baby due in just a little over a month...and now their car totaled. It is still driveable...believe it or not, but of course, it is still illegal...as far as license, etc....but it is Landon's only way to work. Fortunately, he only has about 1 mile to drive to work. But, they didn't need this at all!!!! Things have not been easy for them since they've been married. The past several months, although very lean, seemed to be going pretty good for them, and they had been trying so hard, working on their marriage....and now this. I don't know how...but somehow, some good has to come out of this. It is sure hard to see what, right now...shy of someone claiming responsibility for this, and their insurance pay for Landon's car. Landon was naturally, pretty upset, but after not too long has lightened up quite a bit, and andmitted that he would be alot more upset, had the car been in better shape. I, myself thought he was taking it rather well....I seemed more upset than he did. But, the car has not been running right, or working right for some time, and it already had a couple of bangs in it...the right front fender cruched...so, it wasn't like the car was in perfect shape or running condition...it was about on it's last leg already, and landon was having to pamper it along. Lee and I gave them our other old car...after we got Granny's, and they do have it. Of course, it had a couple of things wrong, and we've not gotten around to fixing them yet. So, Landon was continuing to drive his mazda. It's not going to take much to fix the car we gave them, so now, under the circumstances, that is going to be what is done next....forget trying to fix the mazda. Hopefully, it's not gonna run more than $100 to get the car fixed....probably a little less. Then they'll just need to get it inspected, and license, then some insurance. Landon always gets his taxes done early...and he always files electronically...so he'll have his tax refund before Jan. is over. He said then that he'd take him money...fix the car we gave them, and then try to find them another used one. Then they'll have two cars working. So, I'm just going to pray that things go smoothly for just the next few weeks, until tax money comes in. These poor kids are SO IN NEED OF A BREAK!!! They just seem to get hit with one thing or another....and it is hard on me, because I am not always able to help...especially with the financial end of it....and I so wish that I had it to help with. So, I give them my prayers, and do what I can....and that's all I can do, and pray that God sees us through this tough time. We'll get through it...together!
We were able to get the car jumped...and back to Landon's....that was a big relief in itself. Amanda glucose test got messed up somehow, so they didn't do that yesterday...she'll just do it at a later date...so we just headed on back to our house...all of us mentally stressed after what we'd all been through, and just decided we were gonna do our best to relax the rest of the afternoon. Amanda wasn't feeling good at all...had a bout of low sugar at the drs. office, so she came home and went right to bed. We brought home lunch for everyone...Moriah and the boys were already at home. The rest of the afternoon, was pretty relaxed and lazy. Landon and I ran to the store to get what we would need for the pizza's, and then Moriah, Landon, and the boys played out in the snow...till they were all as frozen as popcicles...lol We finally decided that it was just getting toooooo cold for them to be out. So, thought it best for them to come in and watch a movie, or some cartoons...and get their bods warmed up! Our pizzas tasted great...we watched some movies, and around 10:30, loaded everyone up to take them back to Ashland. Landon had to be at work at 7am, and I work today as well. I'm gonna have to conserve on my gas for the next few days...Lee was paid yesterday, but had to finish paying rent, so that doesn't leave much for the next week. So, I told Landon that we'd probably wait and try to see him on Sunday...and stay close to home for a couple of days.
It is going to be 7 days a week for Lee at work...from now to Christmas. The store will be open on Sunday, Noon-7....so it is going to be 14 days streight of work...until the store closes at 3 on Christmas Eve. Lee will be exhausted, physically for sure...not to mention what it does to him emotionally....with some of the tensions at work, but the time the 24th gets here. He can get to be pretty grumpy by the end of that time, to say the least. He will be well due for a few days off after Christmas....the store is closed on Monday, as well, as is the cleaners where I work...since Christmas falls on a Sunday this year.
Well, I had a couple of things to do after I dropped Lee off at work thismorning, so I didn't get back here as soon as I normally do, and now, guess my time is about away from me. I'm going to have to leave in about 45 mins. for work, and I'm not even dressed yet. That's pushin' it a little...but I'll make it.
Hope you all have a great day! Today WILL be better than yesterday! I hope it is a good one for all of you!
Much love,
Lev
