A stormy day, headed into the week
Just thought I'd drop in for a quick "HI".
It was a terribly stormy day in Columbia yesterday...well, actually all over the state of Missouri. Lee's mom was back in town for a visit, and yesterday, early afternoon, I went to Ashland to pick up Landon and the rest of the gang, since we had made plans to get together with them while Laura was here, and they'd have a chance to spend sometime with her too. I started working on supper around 4, but it wasn't long after that that things started getting a little squirelly. Landon, Moriah, Gabriel, and Kenny had been outside riding bikes and playing....when suddenly, we heard the tornado sirens blaring out their warning. We weren't paying any attention to the tv...so when the sirens went off, we were all a little shocked. We immediately turned on the weather chanel to see what was going on in the area. It wasn't long after, that we begin to start hearing the ping ping of hail on the roof....just about pea size at first, then it continued to get bigger and stronger...the sound of the hail was deafening, and before it ended, had turned out to be about ping pong size hail. When it finished....it looked like it had snowed. All of our cars got hail damage...including Lee's mom's new van....and the neighbors across the street....it broke windows in all three of their cars. Luckily, Laura's windshield, nor none of her van window were broken, and none of the windows on our car got broken. Tornados surrounded us it seemed on all side, but miraculously, steared clear of columbia itself, but did some horrible damage to near by and neighborning towns. We had 3 seperate big bands of storm move through, that we watched and kept an eye on, all of them contain tornadic activity. Landon and his family live in a mobil home, and it was about 1am before the weather was all in the clear, and we felt safe about taking them back home. I wasn't about to take them back to a trailer, if we still had tornados going through the area, and would have kept them here all night if necessary...regardless of the fact that we would have had to had Landon at work by 6am this morning. But, fortunately, the storms moved on by, leaving us with clear skies the rest of the night. Unfortunately, though, not without leaving a path of desturction behind.

Severe Weather
So...other than the weather, which has beent he bigest thing going on right now...there hasn't been much. Other than the trama af the weather, we had a great time visiting with Lee's mom the couple of days she was here. She left about 30 mins. ago, headed back for Indiana. She was wanting to stay a little longer, thinking that she didn't have an appts. or the such, that would keep her from taking a few days away from home. She did realize that she had a drs. appt. on Tues. that she was not going to be able to cancel, so she opted to go ahead and head home, and then plans on coming back...probably a week or two she says, when she can stay longer. She didn't really say for how long, but I'm gonna say maybe a week or so. It is about a 6-7 hr. drive, so she should be arriving back in crawfordsville, IN, around 5-6.
It is windy..very windy, and cold here today. Unfortunately, I have to get out..but not at any particular time really...just need to run to Wal-Mart, so I think I'm going to wait...believe it or not, they say we are suppose to have some sunshine today, and maybe warm up a bit. So, I think I'll hold off and see if it gets a little nicer before I take off. At least I don't have much to do.
With it as chilly and cold as it is today...I think tonight would be a good night for some homemade soup...so I think that's what I'll do for supper. Probably potato soup. It's not Lee or Moriah's favorite...lol ....but I LOVE it, so they tolerate it for me. hahahahaha Lee and I love it with clams....New England clam chowder...but, Moriah won't touch it with the clams...lol...so, it's usually just streight potato soup.
Well, here it is, 11am, and I'm still in my robe. I guess I'll head outta here...get dressed, and get my kitchen picked up. I still have dishes piled from supper last night for 9 people. We just pushed the plates aside, and focused most of our attention on the weather chanel, trying to keep up with which storms were headed our way. At least the dishwasher is already empty...so it won't take too long to load it. Maybe it won't take to long to get it cleaned up. Then...I'll probably be back here to check in again. I have some emails to answer...some pictures to send, but, I'll feel better about messin' on the puter, if I get most of my work done first. So...I should be back here before much longer.
You guys have a great day...hope none of this bad weather that hit us is pounding any of you right now....I'll keep you all in my prayers for your safety, and that of those you love.
Take care.....
Much love,
Lev
