Monday, and I finally got here
It seems I finally have sometime to get back in and say Hi. Things have been a little crazy, and normal life put on hold for the past few days, or seems that way.
On Wed. evening, the last time I was able to make it in to touch base, we received a call from Lee's mom, to let us know that Lee's cousin Cindy had passed away. This was not a shock...it has been something that has been expected just about anytime. For the past several months, she had been going down hill quickly. She was only 44. But, the lifestyle that she chose, in the long run, helped her to the end of her life, probably much faster than it should have been. Through her lenient lifestyle with drugs, she had contracted both B and C hepitius, and from there, needless to say, it headed down hill. Her liver had failed, her kidneys, and her skeletal structure had began to just deteriorate...the bones were just crumbling. She was in tremendous pain, both physically, and mentally. To the family, we are now just relieved that her suffering is over...regardless of the pain that loosing her caused us. It is truely a blessing that she is now with her heavenly Father, her body perfect, and whole again. Her mother had been caring for her constantly for the past several years, and it was about more than she was beginning to be able to handle, to the point that the entire family was very concerned for her health, knowing that she couldn't keep that pace up long without it making her sick, or killing her. Death is never easy to deal with, regardless of the condidtions, but when the loved one is in such pain, there is some relief knowing that their pain has now ceased. Lee had just come home from work not long before we got the call. One of the first things that he mentioned was that Mike had called...Cindy's brother, to tell Lee that she was dying, and that it wouldn't be long, and said that if we wanted to try and make it down to the lake, we'd better make it fast. Lee had Thursday off, so we had already decided to go down on Thurs. It wasn't long after that, we got the call from his mom telling us she was gone. So, we opted not to go down to the lake on Thurs...since we knew that we'd probably be headed there for some type of memorial service on Friday, or Sat. We found out on Thur. that the service would be on Friday night, so Lee called Rob to let him know that he wouldn't be in on Friday for work.
Landon had to work on Friday, but wanted to go with us, but was able to get off just a tad early so that we could leave. I've told you about the cadillac that my uncle was going to give us...just needed to get to the lake to pick it up. Well...since we knew we were going to be at the lake on Friday, we went ahead and made arrangements with my Uncle to meet him at his condo...where the car was, and pick it up. We left a little early, and knew we should have time to do that first, then meet the family for the memorial service that started at 7. Lee was pretty sure that the problem with the car not starting...or somehow going dead, was just the fact that the battery wasn't any good. So, before leaving town, we purchased a new battery...to the tune of abut $75...already I can tell that cadillac parts are gonna be expensive...hehehehehe couldn't take just a $40 one....of coooooooourse not!!! Anyway... got the battery hooked up to the car, held our breath and turned the key.... it just cranked and cranked and cranked, but didn't fire ...not once....then we notice that the gas gauge says empty...so...into town I run to O' Rilley's...buy a gas can...go to the gas station, get some gas, then back to the condo. That didn't work either...so, we just figure that the one can of gas which was just about 2 1/2 gals. just wasn't enough in a large 20 gal. tank like the caddy has...so....back to the gas station again to get more gas, then back to the condo. I had mentioned to Lee before...that if the tank was empty...maybe the carburator needed to be primed, but, he said it was fuel injected...so much for that thought. lol Well....after the second can of gas...and the car still wouldn't start...guess what Lee decides to do...check under the hood...come to find out....it did have a carburator...so they primed it a bit, and the car started up...even though it did sputter and spurt a bit...after all, it hadn't been started in a couple of yrs or so. So...we got the car going...left my uncle's and head right for the gas station. The car wouldn't hold much gas, so we assumed that the gauge wasn't working properly. It appears to be doing okay now...so Lee seems to think that it might just have been the float that was stuck a bit...after sitting for so long. We also figured out that the power drain on the battery is most likely because the radio is wired wrong. It doesn't turn off when you turn the key off. You have to manuelly turn it off. So...we are making our selves very caucious to be sure and turn the radio off, so that we don't go out to get in it and have a dead battery. Other than that, it appears to be running great.
We called Lee's mom from the station. It was about 6:30, and they were headed for the funeral home for the memorial service, so we told them we'd meet them there. It was a wonderful service, and we enjoyed seeing those we hadn't seen in some time. After the service, the family all went back to Peggy and Lloyd's house for coffee...desserts, and company among family members. It was wonderful being able to spend that time with them. Just wish it hadn't been under such sad conditions.
We didn't get home till about 2am Sat. morning...then goofball me sat up till going on 4 and messed on the puter. Lee had to go into work, but I knew I didn't have to get up, so wasn't too worried about it. It sure is nice having 2 cars again, and Lee can just get up and go to work without me having to take him and pick him up each night. With Lee's mom here from Indiana, we are expecting her to come for a visit...but, as is with Lee's mom, we can't get a definately "yes", or "when" or for "how long"...she might be here. She's a clean stickler, so I knew that I was gonna have to get busy on my house, so most of Saturday was spent catching up on laundry, that was piled to the max!!!! Sunday, Lee had the day off, so I didn't do much else to the house. His mom called last night, but still didn't give us a defiantely time, or if she was even coming at all. But, just incase, I've spent most of the day today cleaning other areas of the house...bathrooms, bedrooms, living room. I made everything but the kitchen, but wasn't too worried about it, since we still haven't heard a word from her today. So, I was pretty sure she wouldn't be showing up today. Lee will probably call her tonight to see if we can get anything out of her different. I won't have much left to do...just clean the kitchen, and put a bit of laundry away. That shouldn't take long. But, who knows if she'll even be here tomorrow...she could not show up till Friday. lol
Well, Lee will be getting off work in about 10 mins, and hopefully headed home not too long after that, so guess I better get off this thing, and get started on putting some supper together. I made a big salad for supper last night, so guess we'll use more of that, and I'm gonna fix a pizza to go with it. That's quick, not to mention it's about all I've got in the house. I'm meat poor right now...lol
I'll be around the web most of the evening, I'm sure, checkin' in to see what you're all up to. I'll see ya round!
Much love,
Lev
