udate on unemployment
I suppose I have sometime to update you all before I have supper....it won't be done for another 15 mins or so.
I tried later this afternoon to get ahold of Gordon at the Nifong store...which is where he usually is...we have 3 concord cleaners in columbia... the map below shows... 1. broadway...where I USE to work, 2. the store on Paris Road, and 3. the store on Nifong. I just live about 3 miles from the Paris rd. store(2).
Anyway, Gordon was not there, so when I told the lady that answered the phone who I was, and that I worked at the broadway store, then she informed me..."oh, Hi, Levonne...this is Tracy". Tracy is the manager of the Nifong store...like Rex manages the broadway store...Gordon is a district supervisor, and over all 3 stores...and the stores in Jefferson City, also. Anyway...Tracy immediately asked me what was wrong...she said she could hear it in my voice...I guess the fact that I was upset really showed. Again...without really thinking, I preceeded to spill my guts. She was flabergasted at some of the stuff I told her...and then told me, after I told her of the story about Mary telling this man on the phone, in front of other customers, that we didn't have time to look for his pants...anyway...Tracy told me that she heard about that all the way out at the Nifong store. Seems the customer was a little upset...but...after all, can you say that you blame him. I sure don't.
So...Gordon called me back and was very patient with me letting me explain, about all that had been going on, after appologizing again for walking out the way I did, and told him that I wanted him to be aware of all that had happened, that led me to that point today, when I felt like I was left no other choice but to leave. Gordon was shocked that not a word was said to me by Rex...not by anyone, as to WHY my hours were being cut, and even questioned as to why they were...telling me that if Rex needed more help, he should have hired someone for the afternoons, and then brought me in from9-3 or 10-4, through the busiest time of the day...he said that would have made MUCH more sense, than just cutting back my hours. It definately sounded like that was not the right thing to do, or the way it should have been handled. He naturally didn't come right out and say Rex was at fault, but you could tell my the tone in his voice that he wouldn't have delt with it that way, and wondered why Rex did. He also made it very clear that he didn't think I asked for an "excessive" amount of time off, and that the time I did ask for was very reasonable, and should have been granted....without the heartache attached...as it always was with Rex. I simply told him that it was getting impossible to work in a place where people couldn't hardley give you the time of day...and seemed to have no emotions what so ever when it came to me...but would joke and have tons of fun with other employees. So, Gordon basicaly asked me if I thought there was a "click" there...and you just had to be accepted by the right people...and I couldn't do anything but tell him, that was the way they made me all feel...like everyday that i walked in there was my first day...and I was the newbie!
As it stands right now...Gordon is going to be going to Jeff City tomorrow morning, but told me that when he returned, he was going to talk to Tracy, and see what she had available at the Nifong store...and I also told Gordon that I had no objections to working back and forth between the Nifong and Paris Rd. store, either. And, bit my tounge, and said...that "only for him"...if he was ever in a real pinch, that yes...I would go back a work at the broadway store, if he ever needed me to. So,he told me that once he gets back, and tomorrow afternoon, and talks to Tracy, that he'll give me a call. He said I could go ahead and keep my 2 days vacation pay down...today and tomorrow...so I won't loose any days pay, and then if he can get me started at the other store, we'll just stop on the vacation pay, and I can take it at another time, and he'll set up transfer papers to transfer me to the other store. He did tell me that my raise had gone through...Feb. 3...the day Mary was born, so it will be on the paycheck that I receive next Mon...in a week. So now, I'm just waiting...there maybe the possibility that I'll be back to my full 4 days..possibly even more...depending on what all is available, plus my raise went in...so, maybe this will all work out in the long run. I am still trusting that God put me where I should be. I'll be sure and keep you all up to date, guess we'll see tomorrow afternoon.
Just pulled supper out of the oven...take care
Much love,
Lev
